Days of Our Lives star Tina Huang recently opened up about everything that she loves about her character, Melinda Trask, and what she hopes is in store for her future. Keep reading below for all of the spoilers you need to know!
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, the multi-talented actress admitted that she is very methodical when it comes to her acting and the way that she approaches a script. She’s also been seen more frequently on the small screen as her character has been on the heels of the “missing” Philip investigation. The actress put it this way to the publication, “That was fun, I got to be pretty sasy.”
Tina also says that there’s going to be another storyline in the weeks ahead in which her character gets to be front and center again. She said, “I’m pretty excited to see it air. The transition has been a joyous one. At first, I was only in the detective area. Now it’s different sets and showing up in different parts of town. I’m also getting to work with other actors. I didn’t realize how big the cast was!”
That said, Tina did add that she would love to see the writers of Days of Our Lives give Melinda someone to work with, both professionally and personally speaking. She said, “I kind of wish she had a partner, someone she wants to build ambition with,” adding that she wouldn’t mind exploring what Melinda likes to do at home, too. Tina joked, “She definitely drinking whisky.”
That said, Tina says that she’s not complaining at all about everything Melinda has done so far for the time being. She explained, “I loved the idea that Melinda wanted to take the money to start a fund to help legal aid for undocmented people. I loved that somebody wrote that in for me. It was nice to not just be deliciously bad or torturing people, but also someone that has a heart. Everybody’s corrupt in this town. Why am I the bad guy? I’m just a little hard on the outside, bur I have a soft candy center.”

I think the character of Melinda Trask is just hateful, bitter and unprofessional. I wish they would either incorporate her fully, with a life outside the DA’s office, or just replace her with a more believable character.
