The Young and the Restless comings and goings say that it looks like Ashland Locke will be sticking around anyway! After it was announced that actor Richard Burgi would be leaving the show, there’s a new report that says another actor will be taking his place – and it’s someone that fans will definitely recognize. According to Soap Opera Digest, Guiding Light alum Robert Newman (ex-Josh) will be taking over Richard’s role as the new Ashland Locke! As many fans can recall, Newman not only played Josh on Guiding Light, but he also had short-term roles on Santa Barbara and General Hospital.
Just last week, Burgi made his announcement on one of his Instagram stories. He thanked his fans and followers by writing, “I have such gratitude for the support. I’m moving on from the show, I’ve had a great year on Y&R and I’ve just thoroughly enjoyed the cast crew. Such wonderful people and I wish you all a great start to 2022, luck, health, love, joy. God bless.”
While there was some speculation that suggested Ashland’s supposed departure from Genoa City would leave Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) heartbroken again, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. It’s without a doubt that Newman will pick up where Burgi left off, as his first episode is scheduled to debut sometime next month. Now, the only thing that is going to be rather confusing is that Robert Newman will be playing someone on The Young and the Restless who is not a part of the Newman family, but is in love with a Newman. Well, it’s not like Robert can’t say that he doesn’t have the Newman blood in him, right? Ha! It’s without a doubt that fans are definitely looking forward to seeing him on the small screen again. Watch this space because things are about to get dramatic!

I really liked Josh on Guiding Light
I watched Guiding Light for my twenties until it was cancelled. Robert Newman is a great fit for this role. He’s handsome and a very good actor. I’m looking forward to seeing him again
