Say it isn’t so! The Young and the Restless comings and goings say that Richard Burgi’s time in this fictional city of Genoa City has come to an end. The actor has portrayed Ashland Locke these last several months. Seeing how Ashland is about to depart, there’s a very good chance that he’ll leave a trail of heartache behind for Victoria Newman (Amelie Heinle). Here’s what you need to know.
Richard made his announcement on one of his Instagram stories. He thanked his fans and followers by writing, “I have such gratitude for the support. I’m moving on from the show, I’ve had a great year on Y&R and I’ve just thoroughly enjoyed the cast crew. Such wonderful people and I wish you all a great start to 2022, luck, health, love, joy. God bless.”
Of course, it didn’t take long at all for fans to weigh in on the matter. Many of them wrote, “He should return to General Hospital as Jax or another character, maybe a Novak! He would probably have great chemistry with Nina and give Sonny/Mike a great nemesis!!” along with, “Although Victoria and Ashland had chemistry, the main reason for their marriage was to finalize the merger. Victoria Locke will look very powerful now that Ashland is out of the picture. Victor always thought that Adam was his smartest child and most like him and wanted him to eventually take over Newman Enterprises.”
Another fan wrote, “When announcements are made before the story reveals the actor is leaving, makes me lose interest in whatever is to come because we know THEY’RE LEAVING!!!! Wish Josh Griffith’s writing could have lived up to your skills as an actor. All the best to you, Sir!”
So far the producers of The Young and the Restless have not made any comments as to when Richard’s final air date will be, but we will definitely update you with all of the latest details right here. Ashland Locke might be gone, but he won’t be forgotten.

Totally unhappy about Richard leaving.. a great character was Ashland..so much potential to work with on storylines..Y&R should have done whatever it took to keep him...Richard is a phenomenal actor..no to mention very sexy and handsome. Y&R missed the boat on him
