The world is mourning a Hollywood great. The Bold and the Beautiful has paid tribute to Betty White, who passed away on New Year’s Eve at the age of 99 and just a few weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Here’s what you need to know.
As many fans already know, White was best known for her iconic sitcom roles on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Golden Girls,” but she also played Ann Douglas in the mid-2000’s on The Bold and the Beautiful. Ann was the mother of Stephanie and Pamela Douglas. White played the character for 23 episodes until Ann’s death.
The Bold and the Beautiful shared a throwback photo of Betty White on the set of the hit CBS soap and captioned their post with, “Our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of #BettyWhite who graced us with her joyful presence and remarkable talent as Ann Douglas. Betty was as Bold and Beautiful as they come and she will be greatly missed.”
Of course, it didn’t take long at all for The Bold and the Beautiful fans to comment on the post. Many of them said, “A true golden girl. She will be missed. She was awesome on Bold and the Beautiful when she played Stephanie and Pam’s mother,” along with, “Her irreverence on the set was legendary. She will be sorely missed, especially those who had the pleasure of working on a show with her.”
Another fan wrote, “What a lucky place heaven is right now. How sad for us reading this. RIP Betty. Condolences to all who knew her. It’s a tragedy she was never acknowledged with a Kennedy Center Honor.”
What’s more, Betty White’s co-stars in “The Proposal,” Ryan Reynolds, also paid tribute to the iconic star. “The world looks different now,” tweeted Reynolds. “She was great at defying expectation. She managed to grow very old and somehow, not old enough. We’ll miss you, Betty. Now you know the secret.”
