The widow takes a box of Chance Chancellor’s (Conner Floyd) mementos with her and goes through them. Abby realizes that there was an entire part of Chance’s life that he kept hidden from her. Could this be the key to finding Chance?

Y&R spoilers reveal that Abby leaves Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor with Devon Hamilton (Bryton James). Abby’s decision isn’t so she can search for Chance. Abby’s decision was the hardest one she’s had to make during this storyline. Abby knows that she isn’t thinking clearly enough to take care of her baby properly.

Abby sneaks out of the Chancellor mansion in the middle of the night and checks into a hotel. Even though it seems that Abby might be searching for Chance, that’s actually not her intention right now. Ordway told Soap Opera Digest that Abby needs to clear her head and figure out her complicated feelings about Chance’s situation. Is it denial and grief or is Abby right about feeling that Chance is still alive?

The other reason why Abby sneaks away is due to her family’s constant hovering. Abby needs to think things through and can’t do that when everyone is constantly smothering her.

After Abby checks into the hotel, she pulls out a box of Chance’s mementos. Abby starts looking at each item carefully and makes a startling realization. Abby realizes that there is an entire part of Chance’s life that she didn’t know about. This isn’t to mean that he had a double life, but that certain parts of it were kept private. This could very well be connected to his career, which was very dangerous.

Ordway told the publication that while looking through Chance’s mementos, Abby starts to piece things together.

“… she starts piecing things together… there are parts of his life that he’s been very quiet about and not shared with her, so she’s discovering a part of him that she knew nothing about. And then she comes across something that triggers memories for her. It’s substantial enough that she thinks she may be onto something, and this puts her on a whole new journey.”

It is confirmed that soon after checking into the hotel, Abby makes a distress call. So, it sounds like this new journey could put her in danger. This leads Devon and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) to work together to find Abby before it’s too late.
