Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) keeps adding to his backstory. He follows the latest reveal with an apology and a request for forgiveness.
Everyone can not trust that the man who now claims his real name is Bobby Defranco has provided the whole truth. With that, how can Victoria marry him in Tuscany, Italy?
It does appear that Ashland loves Victoria. This goes beyond what he says to her or others.
The audience has witnessed Ashland’s words and actions when he has been alone. During those moments he appears to confirm that his feelings for Victoria are real.
However, Victoria may have doubts about whether Ashland coupled with her to create the merger. Assuming that his cancer diagnosis is legit, that type of play would represent one last business score.
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is satisfied that Ashland is a good match for his daughter. The Moustache’s calculation does include the projection that Ashland will be off the earth shortly, possibly as soon as the end of this year.
The payoff to Jesse Gaines (Jamison Jones) has only been referenced. Ashland does not know what happened between that license-less lawyer and Victor. Burgi’s character assumes that his soon-to-be father-in-law only knows that Jesse was paid in six-figure sums for many years. But does Victor know more details than Ashland is aware of?
Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) trip to New Jersey led him to talk with a reporter. That convenient plot push enabled a quick information grab. Nick learned about the car crash where Bobby is believed to have assumed the real Ashland’s (no actor known to be cast for this retrospective role) identity.
Teasers indicate that Ashland tells Victoria that he will answer her questions about Jesse. But he asks that she does not allow curiosity to prevent their wedding from happening.
So, Victoria will apparently agree to keep the Vashland wedding plans set but postpone deeper discussions about Ashland’s increasingly troublesome backstory until they arrive in Tuscany.
Ashland may have committed a capital offense or offenses, meaning that he is responsible for the real Ashland’s death and those of other people, possibly including Camilla Rhodes (no actor known to be cast for this retrospective role). If so, then he is trying to avoid arrest and imprisonment in the United States. So, the destination wedding plans may be part of Bobby’s desire to escape the country and never return?

Maybe Ashland was mother was Camilla Rose. Ashland's father could have been her lover and he stole Ashland's inhertiance. If his father was that abusive he was capable of anything. Come on writer's let Ashland be a good guy with a little time left because of his cancer. Who knows maybe Nate can do some type of research and save Ashland's life.
